Social psychiatry
Social psychiatry is the branch of psychiatry which deals with the social environment and mental illness. It also combines a medical training and perspective with fields such as social anthropology, social psychology, cultural psychiatry, sociology and other disciplines relating to mental disorders. This social psychiatry focuses social factors associated with psychiatric morbidity, social effects of mental illness, psycho-social disorders and social approaches to psychiatric care. Social psychiatry is the domain of psychiatry which tries to understand and treat psychiatric disturbances in close relation with their social environment.
