Fluency Disorders
Fluency disorder which is often referred to stuttering and cluttering is characterized by primary core and secondary behaviors. Signs and symptoms of includes, such as
- Anxiety about talking
- Unusual prosody
- Sound/syllable repetitions
- prolongations of sounds
- audible or silent blocking
Treatment goals include reducing the frequency and severity of disfluencies, reducing physical concomitant behaviors and learned avoidance behaviors, reducing tension and effort in communication.
