Dementing disorders
Dementia is a broad category of brain diseases that cause a long-term and often gradual decrease in the ability to think and remember that is great enough to affect a daily functioning of human. A persons consciousness is usually not affected. These diseases also have a significant effect on persons caregivers. These principles include the process of syndromic diagnosis, the need for multi-dimensional assessment, the recognition of the interaction of biological and psycho-social factors in the etiology and treatment of psychiatric symptoms and the crucial role of the family in the management of patients with dementia.
