Pyrrolidine

Pyrrolidine is also known as tetrahydropyrrole, it is a cyclic amine whose five-membered ring contains four carbon atoms and one nitrogen atom with the molecular formula (CH2)4NH. It is a cyclic secondary amine, and also classified as a saturated heterocycle. Pyrrolidine is present in bread, milk, cheese, carrots, celery stalks, beer, spirits, coffee, caviar and fatty fish. Pyrrolidine is a flavouring agent and it is a clear liquid with an unpleasant odor that is ammoniacal, fishy, shellfish-like and seaweed-like. In addition to this pyrrolidine applications are used as organic synthesis, insecticide, bactericide, epoxy resin curing agent, rubber accelerator and also as inhibitors.
