Four-membered rings

Azetidine, oxetane, and thietane are commonly known four-membered rings containing, one nitrogen, oxygen, or sulfur atom are prepared by nucleophilic displacement reactions. The simple procedure of treating a 3-halo alcohol, thiol or amine with base is generally effective, but the yields are often mediocre. Dimerization and elimination are common side reactions, and other functions may compete in the reaction. These compounds are good example of the kinetic advantage of four-membered ring formation.

Journal of heterocyclics is a scholarly journal that aims to publish most complete and reliable source of information on the findings and current developments in the form of original Research, Review, Opinion articles, Case reports, Mini review, and Short commentaries. Journal of heterocyclics is an scholarly open access maintaining high standards of scientific excellence and its editorial board ensures rapid peer review process.
