Piperidine

Piperidine is an organic colorless liquid compound with the chemical formula (CH2)5NH. This heterocyclic compound with six-membered ring contains five methylene and one amine bridges. The name Piperidine came from Latin word for pepper with piper as a genus.

Piperidine has one of the carbons is replaced by nitrogen that’s called as aza cycloalkane. It is a derivative of cadaverine, a polyamine found in the human intestine. It is parent compound for many pharmaceuticals and alkaloids.
Uses:

·         In Degradation reactions, such as the sequencing of DNA in the cleavage of nucleotides.

·         Used as a base for the deprotection of amino acids used in solid-phase peptide synthesis.

·         Used as a secondary amine to convert ketones to enamines.

Journal of heterocyclics publishes Research articles, Editorials, Commentary, letters to the Editor, reviews, and minireviews on the synthesis, structure, reactivity, and biological activity of heterocyclic compounds including natural products. The journal covers investigations in heterocyclic chemistry taking place in scientific centers of all over the world
