Imidazole

The chemical formula of Imidazole is C3N2H4. It is an organic compound with white or colorless solid, which is soluble in water and produces mildly alkaline solution. It is an aromatic compound, classified as a diazole and has alternate nitrogen atoms. Imidazole ring was found in many natural products, especially alkaloids.

This imidazole contains the 1, 3-C3N2 ring but shows varied substituents. This ring system is present in many important biological building blocks, such as histamine hormone. Many drugs contain an imidazole ring, like antifungal drugs, the nitro imidazole series of antibiotics, and the sedative midazolam. When fused to a pyrimidine ring, it forms a purine, which is the most widely occurring nitrogen-containing heterocyclic in nature.

Journal of Heterocyclics - An International Journal is committed to publishing top-tier original research in all areas of heterocyclic chemistry and related fields through a fair and rigorous review process. It offers authors high visibility for their papers, access to a broad readership, high standards of copy editing and production, rapid publication and independence from academic societies and others with vested interests.
