furfural

The molecular formula of furfural is C4H3OCHO which is an organic compound. It is a colorless liquid with

Aldehyde groups attached in the 2nd-position of furan. By the dehydration reaction of sugars we will get furfural.

These sugars are present in agricultural byproducts like wheat bran, sawdust corncobs, and oats.

The name furfural is comes from Latin word furfur. Commercial products of furfural are brown found in foods and beverages. It has properties like thermostatic, physical strength and exhibits resistance to corrosion.

Derivatives of furfural are

• Methyl furan

furfuryl alcohol

• Tetra hydro furfuryl alcohol

Tetra hydro furan

• Methyl tetra hydro furan

It can be synthesized from plant material by the process of reflux with dilute sulfuric acid or other acids in laboratory.

Journal of Heterocyclics discusses a wide range of topics, including fundamental aspects, physical and chemical properties, new trends in the synthesis, structure, and reactivity of heterocyclic compounds future trends in the research of heterocyclic compounds. The Journal also draws attention to the practical application of heterocyclic compounds in the pharmacy and process chemistry. Overall the scope is to cover topics dealing with all areas within heterocyclic chemistry, both experimental and theoretical, of interest to the general heterocyclic chemistry community.
