Direct Methanol Fuel Cell

Direct Methanol Fuel Cell (DMFC) is an electrochemical energy conversion device that converts the chemical energy of liquid methanol into electrical energy directly. It has been considered for use in transportation applications due to low system complexity. When providing current, methanol is electrochemically oxidized at the anode electro catalyst to produce electrons which travel through the external circuit to the cathode electro catalyst where they are consumed together with oxygen in a reduction reaction. The circuit is maintained within the cell by the conduction of protons in the electrolyte. In modern cells, electrolytes based on proton conducting polymer electrolyte membranes (example Nafion™) are often used, since these allow for convenient cell and for high temperature and pressure operation.

The journal of Nanomaterial chemistry and technology aim is to publish high quality research in the discipline of Nanomaterial by providing encouragement for editors, reviewers, authors, and readers to have an uninterrupted scientific communication.
