Root canal therapy

Root canal therapy, also known as endodontic therapy, is a dental treatment for expelling contamination from inside a tooth. It protect tooth from future diseases. Root canal therapy is carried out in the pulp of the tooth, which is the root canal. A root canal is necessary to treat tooth decay. The tooth becomes infected, or abscessed, when the decay goes beyond the enamel and progresses to the dentin, or the layer underneath the enamel. Finally, decay reaches the nerve structure of the tooth, which is called pulp. Now, the irritation that has been caused by the decay in the tooth is irreversible. The nerve structure of the tooth begins to die. As this occurs, chemicals are discharged that can cause a disease at the tip of the root, leading to pain and swelling.
