Dental Pulp Stem Cells

Dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) are stem cells present in the dental pulp, the delicate living tissue inside teeth. They are multipotent, so they can possibly differentiate into a variety of cell types like Myocardiocytes, Neuronal, Myocytes, Osteoblasts, Chondrocytes, Adipocytes and  Bone and tissue from the oral cavity.  Other sources of dental stem cells are the dental follicle and the developed periodontal ligament. Two main cell types are involved in dental tissue formation: the ameloblasts, of epithelial origin, that form enamel and the odontoblasts of mesenchymal origin, that are responsible for dentin production.
