Intravascular Ultrasound

Intravascular Ultrasound is an invasive procedure performed along with cardiac catheterization which is a miniature sound probe on the tip of a coronary catheter is threaded through the coronary arteries from the inside-out. It allows the application of ultrasound technology, such as piezoelectric transducer or CMUT, to see from inside blood vessels out through the surrounding blood column, visualizing the endothelium (inner wall) of blood vessels in living individuals.

This unique point-of-view picture, generated in real time, yields information that goes beyond what is possible with routine imaging methods, such as coronary angiography, performed in the cath lab, or even non-invasive Multislice CT scans.

Cardiology research Journals like Clinical Cardiology and Cardiovascular Medicine (CCCM) provides a global open access platform to put forth the ongoing research, reviews articles related to all the tests related to heart including the heart devices.
