Ebstein anomaly is a rare heart defect thats present at birth i.e. congenital). In Ebstein anomaly, the tricuspid valve doesnot work properly. The tricuspid valve sits lower than normal in the right ventricle and the tricuspid valves leaflets are abnormally formed. Ebstein anomaly may also lead to enlargement of the heart or heart failure.

Signs and symptoms:

·         S4 heart sound

·         Wolff-Parkinson-White-syndrome

·         Right ventricular conduction defects

·         Tricuspid Regurgitation

·         Right atrial hypertrophy

Risk factors:

·         An enlargement of the aorta may occur; an increased risk of abnormality is seen in babies of women taking lithium during the first trimester of pregnancy.

Other heart conditions associated with Ebstein anomaly are:

·         Holes in the heart

·         Arrhythmias

·         WPW syndrome
