Osteomyelitis

Osteomyelitis is also called as Bone infection; it is a rare but serious condition. Osteomyelitis is an infection and inflammation of the bone or the bone marrow due to bacterial or fungal infection enters the bone tissue from the bloodstream or spreading from nearby tissue, due to injury or surgery. If an injury exposes the bone to germs, infections can also begin in the bone itself. Smokers and people with chronic health conditions, such as diabetes or kidney failure, are more at risk of developing osteomyelitis. Sometimes osteomyelitis causes no signs and symptoms or the signs and symptoms are hard to distinguish from other problems. Some of the common Signs and symptoms of osteomyelitis include: Fever, Fatigue, and Pain in the area of the infection, Swelling, warmth and redness over the area of the infection.

Treatment is usually depends on the type of osteomyelitis, severity, and whether there is any bone damage. Patients usually need both antibiotics and surgery to repair any bone damage.
