Core fields covered

Organic chemistry

Edelweiss: Chemical Science is a scholarly journal maintaining high standards of scientific excellence and its editorial board ensures a rapid peer review process. Organic chemistry is branch of chemistry that deals with the different study of properties, structure and reactions of a compound. The study of organic reactions involves chemical synthesis of drugs, polymers and natural products which also includes the study of individual organic molecules in the laboratory. The organic chemistry mainly deals with the carbon and hydrogen properties. Depending on the melting point, boiling point and solubility the organic compound may be identified.

The organic compounds are classified into several types

Functional groups

Functional group is usually a molecular module. Major part of organic chemistry is the concept of functional group which is used to classify structures and to predict the properties of the compounds. Functional groups have significant impact on the chemical and physical properties of the organic compounds. Organic compounds are classified according to functional groups, alcohols, carboxylic acids, amines, etc.

Aliphatic compounds

Edelweiss: Chemical Science Journal is committed to publish top-tier original research in all areas of chemistry and related fields through a fair and rigorous review process. According to the state of saturation aliphatic hydrocarbons are subdivided into three groups of homologous series. Alkanes (paraffins): aliphatic hydrocarbons with a single bond, i.e. just C-C, C-H single bonds. Alkenes (olefins): aliphatic hydrocarbons with one or more double bonds, i.e. di-olefins (dienes) or poly-olefins. Alkynes (acetylenes): aliphatic hydrocarbons with one or more triple bonds.

Further classification is based on the functional groups for compounds which can be "straight-chain", branched-chain or cyclic. The cycloalkenes and the cycloalkynes contain multiple bonds whereas cycloalkanes do not.

Aromatic compounds

Conjugated double bonds are present in aromatic hydrocarbon that is every carbon atom in the ring is sp2 hybridized which allows stability. The configuration of 4n conjugated pi electrons shows instability (antiaromaticity).

Edelweiss publications review process is done by their active Editorial Board Members only, which help in reducing the timeline for publishing the manuscript after submission. Edelweiss Publications Inc, is running since three years with many more journals related to different science topics.

 Heterocyclic compounds

Edelweiss: Chemical Science is a double blind peer reviewed Open Access journal that aims to publish most complete and reliable source of information on the findings and current developments in all areas of the field and making them freely available to everyone immediately after publication. The presence of heteroatoms alters the features of the cyclic hydrocarbons which can be exocyclic (attached externally to the ring) or endocyclic (member of the ring itself). The ring in the latter case is termed as heterocycle. Aromatic heterocycles are furan and pyridinen whereaspiperidine and tetrahydrofuran are alicyclic heterocycles. oxygen, sulfur, nitrogen are particularly the heteroatoms of heterocyclic compounds.

Aniline dyes and medicines are the products where heterocycles are usually present. They are also present in wide range of biochemical compounds such as steroids, vitamins, alkaloids and nucleic acids.

Inorganic chemistry

Edelweiss: Chemical Science publishes manuscripts on inorganic chemistry. The synthesis and behavior of inorganic and organometallic compounds is dealt in inorganic chemistry. It covers all the chemical compounds of organic chemistry except the myriad organic compounds (carbon based compounds, usually containing C-H bonds). It has wide applications in the field of chemical industry which includes materials science, pigments, surfactants, catalysis, fuels, coatings, agriculture and medications.

Organometallic chemistry, cluster chemistry and bioinorganic chemistry are the subdivisions of inorganic chemistry. These fields are active areas of research in inorganic chemistry, aimed toward superconductors, new catalysts and therapies.

Organometallic chemistry

Edelweiss: Chemical Science journal publishes Research articles, Editorials, Commentary, letters to the Editor, reviews, and mini reviews on the synthesis, structure, reactivity, and biological activity of chemical compounds including natural products. The study of chemical compounds having atleast one chemical bond between a carbon atom of an organic molecule or metal. It may include alkaline, alkaline earth, and transition metals.

Cluster chemistry

In chemistry, a group of bound atoms or molecules that is intermediary in size between a molecule and a bulk solid is known as cluster. Cluster chemistry is classified into Atomic clusters, Molecular clusters, Metallic clusters, Transition metal cluster, gas phase clusters.

Bioinorganic chemistry

Edelweiss: Chemical Science journal welcomes manuscripts on bioinorganic chemistry topics. The role of metals in biology is studied under bioinorganic chemistry. It deals with the natural phenomenon of metallo proteins as well as artificially introduced metals. Biological processes like respiration depend upon molecule which comes under the study of inorganic chemistry. It is also used to study inorganic models or to mimic the behavior of metallo proteins.

Major areas of bioinorganic chemistry are enzymology, toxicity, environmental chemistry, metal ion transport and biomineralization.

Physical chemistry

Edelweiss: Chemical Science editorial board members are experts in the field of physical chemistry. The branch of chemistry which deals with the application of principles and concept of physics to study the chemical systems is known as physical chemistry. Concept of physics includes motion, force, time, energy, thermodynamics, analytical dynamics, chemical equilibrium and quantum chemistry.

Physical chemistry is a supra-molecular science in contrast to chemical physics, as majority of principles are related to bulk rather than molecular or atomic structure alone.
Branches of physical chemistry include thermochemistry, photochemistry, biophysical chemistry, physical inorganic chemistry, surface chemistry etc.

Pharmaceutical chemistry

Edelweiss: Chemical Science journal aims to publish new research and innovations in pharmaceutical field. The study of drugs and its development is pharmaceutical chemistry. It includes absorption, metabolism, drug discovery, drug delivery and more.

 Chemical analysis

Edelweiss: Chemical Science journal promotes studies on chemical analysis for betterment of society. The study of the chemical composition and structure of substances is called chemical analysis. Analytical chemistry methods are used to separate, identify, and quantify substance. The method usually depends on chemical reactions between the reagent that is added to the analyte and the material being analyzed (the analyte). Qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis are the two methods used in the analytical chemistry. Qualitative analysis identifies those compounds and elements present in unknown sample material. The amount by the weight of each element or compound present is determined by quantitative analysis. Important modern methods used in the analysis of chemicals are Gas and paper chromatography. Gas chromatography is used in many different ways like to detect bombs at the airports and in the forensic labs to analyze blood at crime the crime scene. Paper chromatography is the most common method where paper strip is used as the stationary phase where solutes get separated by pulling up solvents using capillary action. Edelweiss publications has a rapid review process, it tries to publish the manuscript within 4-6 weeks of time after submission.
