Biography
Dr.
Katarzyna Kirsz is an Adjunct Associated Professor at the Faculty of Animal
Sciences, Agricultural University in Krakow, Poland. She directs her research interests towards endocrine
mechanisms which are responsible for annual changes in feed intake, body weight
gain as well as seasonal reproduction in animals. She completed studies in the field of Animal Science, majoring in
biology of Animal reproduction at the Agricultural University in Krakow, in
2006. In 2009, she graduated from special postgraduate
studies in Molecular Biology at the Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and
Biotechnology, Jagiellonian University in Krakow. She worked as a research assistant at the
Laboratory of Molecular Genetics and Virology Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics
and Biotechnology at Jagiellonian University (2008-2009). Since 2015, she is a PhD in the field of Animal
Sciences and Biology. In 2013 she underwent an internship at University of British Columbia,
Faculty of Land and Food Systems, in Vancouver, Britsh Columbia, Canada (working on project:
“The effects of zinc-depletion on the expression of apoptotic regulator at the
protein level in human breast cancer MDA-MB-231 cells”), and in 2017 she underwent an internship at Texas A&M University, Agriculture and Life
Sciences, Department of Animal Science, Physiology of Reproduction Section
(working on project: “Investigation of the effects of perinatal
nutrition on reproductive neuroendocrine function in female ruminants”).
Research Interest
Neuroendocrinology,
energy homeostasis, circadian rhythms, neurogenesis, reproduction, cell
cultures techniques in animals.
