Crowded Teeth

Dental crowding is defined as a discrepancy between tooth size and jaw size that results in a misalignment of the tooth row. The main reasons for crowding include excessively large teeth, small jaws, and a combination of both, or as the result of an evolutionary trend towards a reduced facial skeletal size without a corresponding decrease in tooth size. Crowding of teeth is considered as the most common type of malocclusion. Tooth size-arch length discrepancy (TSALD) is a well-defined means of assessing dental crowding.
