Peri- Implant Mucositis
Peri-implant mucositis is characterized by an inflammatory reaction in the tissues surrounding a dental implant with no sign of supporting bone loss. Generally peri-implant mucositis is a precursor to peri-implantitis and corresponds to gingivitis around natural teeth. Important criteria to defining peri-implant mucositis are, the inflammation of mucosa surrounding an endosseous implant and the absence of continuing marginal peri-implant bone loss. In the case of peri-implant mucositis, patients typically present with increased probing depths, bleeding, possible suppuration, no radiographic evidence of bone loss, and usually no pain
