Orthodontic technology
Orthodontic technology is a specialty of dental technology that is concerned with structure and fabrication of dental apparatuses for the treatment of malocclusions, which might be a consequence of tooth anomaly, unbalanced jaw connections, or both. Active, passive and functional are three main types of orthodontic appliances. All these types can be fixed or removable. An active appliance used to apply forces to the teeth to change the relationship of the teeth. Functional appliance is the approach without extraction and pain it produces effect by altering the position of the mandible/maxilla.
