Periodontic-Endodontic lesions
Periodontic-Endodontic lesions are confined, encompassed regions of bacterial infection starting from either dental pulp, periodontal tissues encompassing the involved tooth or teeth or both. Infection from a periodontal pocket may proliferate by means of accessory canals into the root canal of the affected tooth, leading to pulpal irritation. Accessory canals may not be big enough to allow bacterial penetration, periodontal disease must reach the apex to induce an endodontic lesion. Periodontic-Endodontic lesion may be due to the result of a fractured tooth.
