Steroid induced diabetes
Steroid induced diabetes: Corticosteroids are used to reduce harmful inflammation but this can lead to diabetes are referred as steroid diabetes and are at a higher risk of type 2. Steroid diabetes arises during high-dose of glucocorticoid treatments include severe asthma, organ transplantation, cystic fibrosis, inflammatory bowel disease, and induction chemotherapy for leukemia or other cancers. Glucocorticoids oppose insulin action and stimulate gluconeogenesis, especially in the liver, resulting in a net increase in hepatic glucose output.
