Agricultural biotechnology is also known as agritech or agricultural science. This involves use of scientific tools and techniques. This contains genetic engineering, molecular markers, molecular diagnostics and vaccines. Tissue culture is for the modification of living organisms like plants, animals and microorganisms. Agricultural biotechnology range of tools including traditional breeding techniques and living organisms.
Some biotechnology crops can be engineered to tolerate some specific herbicides. These make weed control simpler and also more systematized. Some crops have engineered to be resistant to specific diseases on plants and insect pests. Crop modification techniques like Traditional breeding, Mutagenesis, Polyploidy, Protoplast, Transgenics and Genome editing are frequently used.
