Aquafarming is also known as Aquaculture. Aquafarming is farming of fish, aquatic plants, molluscs, crustaceans, algae and other organisms. Aquaculture includes freshwater and saltwater cultivation. Population under controlled conditions can compare with commercial fishing. This is harvesting wild fish. Mariculture also refers to aquaculture which practiced in marine environments and underwater habitats.

Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) declared that aquaculture is mean to be farming of aquatic organisms. Farming suggests some forms of intervention in rearing process to increase the production. Such as regular feeding, stocking from predators and some other. Some kinds of aquaculture include shrimp farming, fish farming, mariculture, oyster farming, algaculture. Cultivation of ornamental fish is also includes in aquaculture.
