Oxazole

Oxazole is the parent compound for various heterocyclic aromatic organic compounds. These are azoles with oxygen and nitrogen separated by one carbon. Oxazoles are aromatic compounds but less than the thiazoles. Oxazole is a weak base with chemical formula for C3H3NO.

The Fischer synthesis is a chemical synthesis of an oxazole from a cyanohydrin and an aldehyde in the presence of anhydrous hydrochloric acid. This method was discovered by Emil Fischer.

Journal of heterocyclics publishes Research articles, Editorials, Commentary, letters to the Editor, reviews, and mini reviews on the synthesis, structure, reactivity, and biological activity of heterocyclic compounds including natural products. The journal covers investigations in heterocyclic chemistry taking place in scientific centers of all over the world.
