An atrial myxoma is a benign tumor of the heart, most commonly found within the left and then the right atria on the interatrial septum. This is also commonly called as Cardiac Myxoma.
· Chest pain or tightness
· Sudden Death
· Platypnea and many more.
- Pulmonary edema
- Peripheral emboli
- Spread (metastasis) of the tumor
- Blockage of the mitral heart valve
- Fusiform cerebral aneurysms
Tests for cardiac myxoma may include:
· Echocardiogram and Doppler study
· Chest x-ray
· CT scan of chest
· Left heart angiography
· Right heart angiography
· ECG-may show atrial fibrillation.
