It is a psychological disorder characterized by the elevation or lowering of a persons mood, such as depression or bipolar disorder. This is also known as mood (affective) disorders. Some examples of mood disorders include such as Major depressive disorder (MDD), Bipolar disorder, Seasonal affective disorder (SAD), Cyclothymic disorder, Premenstrual dysphoric disorder, Persistent depressive disorder (which is commonly known as dysthymia), Disruptive mood dysregulation disorder, Depression related to medical illness, Depression induced by substance use or medication, psychomotor retardation, Catatonic depression, and many more. Symptoms of mood disorders are euphoria or irritability, excessive talking, racing thoughts, inflated self-esteem, unusual energy, less sleep, impulsiveness, shopping sprees, impetuous travel, promiscuous sex, risk of business investments, fast driving and hallucinations.
