  • Pediatric Nutrition

Balanced and right nutrition in the early days of life is very important. Nutritional requirements of infants are different from an adult as the nutrients help in proper physical and mental growth. Lack of vital nutrients in the diet during the growing up stages lead to serious health conditions. There is lot of scope of research in the field of dietary requirements and supplementation in the early stages of life which will help in proper growth of the infant into a healthy adult.

  • Nutritional  deficiencies and malnutrition

When the body is deficient or lacks the essential vitamins and minerals vital for its maintenance, it leads to a number if disorders. The vitamins and minerals collectively called as micronutrients are not synthesized in the body and are supplemented in the diet. When the food we eat is devoid of the micronutrients or the body fails to absorb and assimilate the nutrients provided in the food, it alters the health and leads to disorders. These can include digestion and intestinal problemsskin disorders, stunted or defective bone growth, and dementia.

Malnutrition is a very important form of nutritional deficiency that requires attention from worldwide researchers. . This condition leads to many complications in ones body including stunted growth and difficulty fighting diseases.

·         Food allergens and allergy studies

Food allergy is a term that is used very commonly all around the world, but not much is known about it in detail. An allergy occurs when bodys natural defense mechanism starts overreacting to exposure to a particular substance, treating it as an invader and sending out chemical message to defend it. The symptoms vary from person to person and so does the severity. The most severe allergic reaction is anaphylaxis which is a life-threatening complete-body allergic reaction that can interfere with your breathing and cause a dramatic drop in your heart rate.

While any food can cause an allergy, these are the types of food account for about 80 percent of all reactions: Eggs,Milk,Peanuts,Fish,Shellfish,Wheat,Soy and certain seeds like sesame and mustard.

Symptoms of an allergic reaction may involve vomiting and/or stomach cramps, hives, Shortness of breath, Wheezing, hoarse throat, Swelling of the tongue and many more.
