Asperger Disorder

Asperger syndrome is also known as Asperger Disorder. It is a developmental disorder characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction and nonverbal communication, along with restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests. It is a part of a broader category called autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Asperger syndrome distinguishes from other forms of autism in strong verbal language skills and intellectual ability. It generally involves:

·         Difficulty with social interactions

·         Restricted interests

·         Desire for sameness

·         Distinctive strengths

Asperger syndrome signs usually begin before two years old and typically last for a person entire life. The exact cause of Asperger is unknown. While it is probably partly inherited, the underlying genetics have not been determined. Environmental factors are also believed to play a role.
