Sedatives Dependence

Sedative drugs are helpful for treating anxiety and sleep problems, but using them can lead to dependence or addiction, which can slow brain activity. These are also known as tranquilizers or depressants, sedatives have a calming effect and can also induce sleep. Treatment depends upon the dose of sedative the patient is taking, and helps the patient psychological state and physical state. The side effects of sedative dependence includes,

·         Drowsiness, slow heart rate and breathing

·         Increased risk of falls and injury

·         Depression and anxiety symptoms

·         Impaired attention and judgment
