Histone Proteins

Histone proteins binds around the DNA and divides into structural units called nucleosomes. It found in eukaryotic cell and participates in gene regulation. The unwind DNA in chromosomes would be very long in the absence of of histones. The diploid cell of human has 23 pairs of chromosomes with 1.8 meter length. In the duplication process of DNA during mitosis the length is 120 micrometers.

The histone proteins exist as dimers which are similar in size. Each histone has three alpha helices linked by two loops. For the interaction between dimers helical structure used particularly in a head-tail manner.

Biochemistry and Modern Applications is a peer reviewed Journal, with rapid publication process. The topics like DNA polymerases, Heterochromatin, Ribosome, Non-coding DNA, Cell biology, Metabolism, Nutritional Biochemistry, Medicinal Biochemistry and Hormonal Biochemistry are studied. This is not just limited to above areas. The knowledge related to different biomolecules and their mechanisms can be studied in the Journal of Biochemistry and Modern Applications.
