Cardiac markers
Cardiac markers are biomarkers measured to evaluate heart function. They can be useful in the early prediction or diagnosis of disease. Cardiac biomarkers are protein molecules released into the blood stream from damaged heart muscle.
Characteristics of an ideal cardiac marker:
· High cardiac specificity
· Pharmacokinetics of cardiac biomarker
· Easy diagnosis
· Marker should play a designed role in the treatment and management of clinical subject.
Biomarkers of myocardial Necrosis are Creatine kinase-MB, Myoglobin, Cardiac troponins. Biomarkers of Myocardial ischemia are IMA, H-FABP.
Types of Cardiac Markers:
· CK-MB Test
· LDH
· AST
· Mb
· IMA
