Mitral valve stenosis
Mitral valve stenosis which is also known as mitral stenosis, is a narrowing of the hearts mitral valve. This abnormal valve doesnot open properly, blocking blood flow into the main pumping chamber of the left ventricle of the heart. Mitral valve stenosis can make you tired and short of breath, among other problems.
Symptoms:
- Shortness of breath
- Fatigue
- Swollen feet or legs
- Heart palpitations
- Dizziness or fainting
- Coughing up blood
- Chest pain
Mitral valve stenosis may also produce signs that your doctor will find during your examination. These may include:
· Fluid buildup in the lungs
· Irregular heart rhythms (arrhythmias)
Causes:
· Calcium deposits
· Congenital defects
· Lupus (Auto immune disorders)
Complications:
· Pulmonary hypertension
· Blood clots
