Brain mapping
Brain
mapping is a neuroscience techniques to map brain. Brain mapping is further
defined as the study of the anatomy and function of the brain
and spinal cord through the use of imaging which includes intra-operative,
microscopic, endoscopic and multi-modality imaging, immunohistochemistry,
molecular and optogenetics, stem cell and cellular biology, engineering neurophysiology
and nanotechnology.
Neuroscience databases are available online which provide information regarding
gene expression, neurons, macroscopic brain structure, and neurological or psychiatric
disorders. Some databases contain descriptive and numerical data, some to
brain function, others offer access to raw imaging data, such as postmortem
brain sections or 3D MRI and fMRI images. Some focus on the human
brain, others on non-human
