Food Safety

Food safety includes the guidelines for handling, cooking, and preservation of food to prevent foodborne illnesses caused by microbes such as fungi, bacteria, parasites, and viruses. Food safety is important to prevent food poisoning, diarrhea, vomiting, stomach aches, muscle aches, and many more. This is what makes food safety important as it assures that the food is safe throughout the food chain from preparation, distribution, storage and harvesting. Food safety refers to the absence, or safe acceptable levels, of hazards in food that may harm the health of consumers.

As food is a medium for growth of microorganisms it has to stored and packed properly to avoid entry of
pathogens. The final products of food samples are tested for the presence of microbes, flavor, color, and any physical-chemical changes. If the final products pass the entire test and has foreign substances within acceptable limits, required shelf life it gets approved for distribution among the consumers.
