The commonly known six-membered rings are tetrahydropyran, thiane and piperidine. The chemical reactivity of the saturated members of this class resembles that of acyclic ethers, sulfides, and 2ยบ-amines. Fully unsaturated six-membered nitrogen heterocycles such as pyridine, pyrazine, pyrimidine and pyridazine, have stable aromatic rings. Oxygen and sulfur analogs are necessarily positively charged, as in the case of 2,4,6-triphenylpyrylium tetrafluoroborate. The diazines pyrazine, pyrimidine and pyridazine are all weaker bases than pyridine due to the inductive effect of the second nitrogen.
Journal of heterocyclics is a scholarly journal that aims to publish most complete and reliable source of information on the findings and current developments in the form of original Research, Review, Opinion articles, Case reports, Mini review, and Short commentaries. Journal of heterocyclics is an scholarly open access maintaining high standards of scientific excellence and its editorial board ensures rapid peer review process.
