Nano fluidics is the study and manipulation of fluids confined within nanostructures. The fluid dynamics of substances on the Nano scale differs significantly from the fluid dynamics of substances on longer length scales. Nano fluidics can exhibit novel physical behaviors not observed in larger structures with increased viscosity, enhanced thermal conductivity, special rheological, and acoustical properties, which make them potentially useful in many applications. Four areas are identified where Nano fluidics has brought the largest contributions such as single Nano pores, nonporous membranes, Nano confinement and the use of concentration polarization.
