ELISA- Enzyme-linked immunesorbent assay is a plate-based assay used for detecting and quantifying substances such as peptides, proteins, antibodies and hormones. It uses solid-phase enzyme immunoassay (EIA) to detect the presence of a ligand by using antibodies. It’s also known as analytical biochemistry assay.

In the simplest form of an ELISA, antigens from the sample are attached to a surface. Then, a matching antibody is applied over the surface so it can bind to the antigen. This antibody is may be an enzyme, and in the final step, a substance containing enzyme substrate is added. The subsequent reaction produces a detectable signal, most commonly a color change.
