Erythrocytosis

Erythrocytosis is a condition in which body makes too many red blood cells, or erythrocytes. RBCs carry oxygen to organs and tissues. Having too many of these cells can make blood thicker than normal and lead to blood clots and other complications. Erythrocytosis may be

·         Primary: Caused by a disorder of blood-forming cells

·         Secondary: Caused by a disorder that triggers increased production by normal blood-forming cells

Symptoms of erythrocytosis include:

·         Headaches.

·         Dizziness.

·         Shortness of breath.

·         Nosebleeds.

·         Increased blood pressure.

·         Blurred vision.

·         Itching.
