Sleep terrors

Sleep terrors are also known as night terrors, which are the episodes of screaming, intense fear and failing while still asleep. These sleep terrors often are paired with sleepwalking. Sleep terrors generally occur in the first third to first half of the night, and rarely during naps. During a sleep terror the following symptoms are noticed such as begin with a frightening scream, sit up in bed and appear frightened, stare wide-eyed, sweat, breathe heavily, having a racing pulse, be inconsolable, get out of bed and run around the house or have aggressive behavior if blocked or restrained. The causes of sleep terrors includes,

·         Sleep deprivation

·         Sleep-disordered breathing

·         Restless legs syndrome

·         Mood disorders (depression and anxiety)

·         Tachycardia and Tachypnea
