Trauma is a type of damage to the mind that occurs as a result of a distressing event. Trauma is often the result of an overwhelming negative event and amount of stress that exceeds ones ability to cope, or integrate the emotions involved with the mental and emotional stability which they experiences. Some common sources of trauma includes like Rape, Domestic violence, Natural disasters, Severe illness or injury, The death of a loved one, and Witnessing an act of violence. The following types of trauma are Emotional Trauma (Symptoms are denial, anger, sadness and emotional outbursts towards other sources, such as friends or family members), Physical Trauma (Symptoms are paleness, lethargy, fatigue, poor concentration and a racing heartbeat), Short-Term and Long-Term Effects of Trauma (Short-term and long-term effects of trauma can be similar, but long-term effects are generally more severe. Short-term mood changes are fairly normal after trauma, but if the shifts in mood last for longer than a few weeks, a long-term effect can occur).
