Anorexia nervosa is often called as Anorexia. It is a psychological and potentially life-threatening eating disorder, where people are of low weight due to limiting their energy intake. It can affect anyone of any age, gender, or background. Although the disorder most frequently begins during adolescence, an increasing number of children and older adults are also being diagnosed with anorexia. People with anorexia have difficulties in maintaining an appropriate body weight for height, age, and stature; and, in many individuals, distorted body image. People with anorexia generally restrict the number of calories and the types of food they eat.
There are two common types of anorexia, which are Binge Type and Restrictive Type. The physical signs and symptoms of anorexia nervosa are related to starvation. Anorexia also includes emotional and behavioral issues involving an unrealistic perception of body weight and an extremely strong fear of gaining weight or becoming fat.
