Biography
Dr Adeem Mahmood is currently working as an Assistant Professor in Synthetic Organic & Natural Product Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, King Saud University, KSA since Sep-2014. Before joining KSU, Dr Adeem worked as an Assistant Professor of Synthetic Organic Chemistry for the Department of Chemistry, COMSATS Institute, Abbottabad, Pakistan from Feb-2012 to Aug-2014. Dr. Adeem Mahmood obtained his M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry from the Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, Pakistan, completing his thesis work at PMRC (Pakistan Medical Research Council) Nishter Medical College, Multan. After serving as a Q. C. Chemist (Drugs Stability-Controlled) at Hamaz Pharma, Multan for three years, he joined HEJ (ICCSB) Karachi University for his higher studies (M.Phil leading to PhD in Organic Chemistry). He had worked there on the isolation of natural products in the research group of Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Chaudhary. Immediately after passing the International GRE (ETS) exam with high percentile and awarding a PhD Split-Scholarship from the Higher Education Commission, Pakistan, Dr. Adeem went on to complete his PhD at the University of Bristol, UK, under the supervision of an eminent scientist Prof. Varinder K. Aggarwal from Sep-2006 to Dec-2010. He had worked on the Boron Chemistry and earned his Ph.D degree in Organic Chemistry through producing quick high impact publications in top-ranking Journals e.g. ACIE, JACS, Tetrahedron Lett. Molecules etc. His Ph.D thesis title was: “Asymmetric lithiation/borylation of carbamate and their applications towards the allylation of aldehydes and the Prins cyclization”. Later on, Dr. Adeem worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate from Jan 2011 to Jan 2012 at the University of Nottingham, UK in Stockman’s group.
