Hemiparesis is also known as unilateral paresis. It is weakness of one entire side of the body. It is a condition that is commonly caused by either stroke or cerebral palsy, although it can also be caused by multiple sclerosis, brain tumors, and other diseases of the nervous system or brain. Hemiparesis or one-sided weakness affects about 8 out of 10 stroke survivors, causing weakness or the inability to move one side of the body. One-sided weakness can affect your arms, hands, legs and facial muscles and cause:
· Difficulty walking
· Impaired ability to grasp objects
· Decrease in movement precision
· Lack of coordination
