Cognitive genomics

Neurophysiology and Rehabilitation journal | Cognitive genomics Research articles | Open access neurophysiology Articles

Cognitive genomics is also known as the Neurative genomics. It is the sub-field of genomics pertaining to cognitive function in which the genes and non-coding sequences of organisms genome related to the health and activity of the brain are studied. Correlations of genetic variation in DNA with functional brain activity have already provided a starting point for delving into human cognitive mechanisms. However, these analyses do not provide the specific genes driving the associations, which are complicated by intergenic localization as well as tissue-specific epigenetics and expression. The theory behind cognitive genomics is based on elements of genetics, evolutionary biology, molecular biology, cognitive psychology, behavioral psychology, and neurophysiology
