Hypertension also known as high blood pressure which is long term medical condition which is commonly seen in all the aged group people. Hypertension doesnt show specific symptoms which may lead to various risk factors for coronary artery disease, stroke, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, peripheral vascular disease, vision loss, chronic kidney disease, and dementia. We can observe two types of hypertension, primary hypertension and secondary hypertension. Normal blood pressure is 120 over 80 mmHg, but where as in hypertension is higher than 130 over 80 mmHg. Hypertension treatment includes regular physical exercise, stress reduction, medications which include calcium-channel blockers, vasodilators, central agonists, angiotensin receptor blockers and may more.
A number of risk factors increase the chances of having hypertension may include age, Ethnicity, size, weight, alcohol and tobacco use, sex. There may be other contributing factors which include, physical inactivity, a salt rich diet associated with processed and fatty foods, low potassium in the diet, a family history of high blood pressure and managed stress can also contribute. Some types of hypertension can be managed through our life style and dietary choices, such as moderating the alcohol consumption, tobacco usage, reducing the salt content, eating more fruit and vegetable and less fat.
