Tooth mobility can be termed as loose tooth. Tooth mobility is an indication of the condition of the supporting structures, namely, the periodontium, and usually is caused by inflammatory changes in the periodontal ligament, traumatic occlusion, loss of attachment, or a combination of the three factors. Tooth mobility is caused by gradual resorption of their roots, stimulated by the developing permanent tooth underneath. Abnormal, pathologic tooth mobility occurs when the attachment of the periodontal ligament to the tooth is diminished or if the periodontal ligament is inflamed. Treatment options for a loose tooth include Scaling and root planning, Medications or mouth rinses, Surgery, Bone grafts, Soft tissue grafts, Treatment for diabetes and Dental appliances, such as bite splints.
