Thermochemical Cycle

Journals on Thermochemical Cycle | Collision Theory Research articles | Edelweiss Chemical Science

Thermochemical cycles combine merely heat sources (thermo) with chemical reactions to split water into its hydrogen and oxygen components. Apart from water, hydrogen and oxygen, the chemical compounds used in these processes are continuously recycled hence the term cycle is used. Multistage closed-cycle series of endothermic and exothermic reactions are present in thermochemical cycle for water splitting, which can convert thermal energy to hydrogen energy with greater efficiency than the conventional heat engine. One of the most promising methods to produce hydrogen from thermal energy is thermochemical decomposition of water by cyclic reactions because of its efficient use of thermal energy. The  primary  energy  source  for  thermochemical  hydrogen  production  is  medium  temperature  heat  from  solar  and  nuclear  energy.
